Feng-GUI is a heatmap creation service for your website. However, unlike Crazy Egg or other similar heatmap services, Feng-GUI creates heatmap of your website based on the human eye.
There is no actual eye-tracking here just that Feng-GUI creates the heatmaps based on where it thinks the human eye would most likely be attracted. According to their site, and I when through their blog, Feng-GUI’s algorithm is based on their research on artificial vision, neuro-science and some other rocket science stuff.

In other words it uses a special algorithm that attempts to guess what a real human eye would look at on the webpage. This could be either totally genius or totally bogus.
Feng-GUI put up a comparison chart in their FAQ section between Feng-GUI’s visual attention algorithm and real eye-tracking data acquired. It look pretty convincing.

So what does a service like this benefits you other then having a cool heatmap of your website? Web designer could use this to test out their changes and see the effects. Does the new design grab people’s attentions to the part where you want them to look at. Advertises could use this to see how well their ads are, and does their banner gets people looking at where they wanted them to look at.
It’s a pretty interesting concept. So what next? visual attention heatmap for video? now that would be awesome if they could do that.
