A big kudos to Tenaga Nasional Berhad for having an official blog, TNB Talks. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the first Malaysia big shot corporation that I know of to have something resembling a blog.
It might not be your typical run of the mill blog, but if you ever wanted to take a glimpse into our local power industry this would be the place. It’s not something for everybody.
I think more local major big shot corporation should start blogging. Government and political parties also should be blogging. Blogs are a good medium to communicate to the masses.
Here are some of the reason why having a blog is good for your corporation or organization.
- A blog opens up communication lines between your organization directly to your customer or your target audiences. Skip the middle man, who needs the media. If you have something to say to your audiences, say it straight to them with out going through the media loops.
- Blogs are two way communications. Readers could comment, write on other blogs or pass the links to others. This is could not be done effectively on mediums like the television or such.
- Blogs feel more human. It makes people think that there are actual human beings running the organization.
- A blog if you update regularly, will make your organization look busy. There is always things happening or there are always plans for the future. A more transparent organization.
I’ve recommended the book Naked Conversations by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel before, I think it is still relevant for this post. To all the CEO or CTO out there, you might want to consider having an official blog for you organization.
