I had a similar idea with The Hoppers & Ahli Muzik, the difference is that they, The Hoppers & Ahli Muzik, go ahead and done it while as for myself, it is nothing more then just an idea.
The Hoppers & Ahli Muzik is a travelogue turns reality TV show. Every Sunday 10:00pm at 8TV. I miss out in seeing the first two episode, will try to catch the third one. Their online blog/website, thehoppers.com.my seems to be down at the moment.
It’s a bunch of your everyday guys who wants to get out of the hectic city that we all known and love, K.L. just to see what Malaysia’s other states have to offer.
The show was shot with two cameras, one held by one of The Hoppers to capture the intimacy and interaction between them, and another is held by a professional to capture the the beauty of the destinations. They also features music from local acts as its soundtrack, cool.
They ride in a beat-up Volkswagon Kombi. While heading to their destination, apart from the normal touristy stuff, they gatecrash gigs, meet with the locals and lots more.
Along the why they bump into various bands such as Free Love, Oh Chentaku and Kompolt, hence the ‘Ahli Muzik‘ side of the show. Occasionally the Hoppers friends will join their little adventure, just to hang out or play as a tour guide. I was told that Fynn Jamal, a poet/writer/blogger, of which I’ve been reading her blog for quite sometime, joins them in one of the episode.
I to had a similar idea of doing such things, but it wont be up to the standard of a reality TV shows.
I was thinking of going on a trip to all conners of Malaysia with two objective in mind, music and food. We are not going to do all those touristy stuff, instead we going to gatecrash gigs of all over Malaysia, from Seremban to Melaka, form Kuantan to Ipoh, and of cause Johor Bahru. Along the way we going to stop and tryout good eating places and all the different types of food Malaysia had to offer. This of cause will be blogged over at MakanByte. Well every expect of the journey will be blogged.
As for the video, well instead for a high-end equipment for TV quality result, I was thinking along the line of a Flip video camera. The video quality is not that good, but it’s good enough for YouTube.
Its all going to be online, no TV deals what so ever.
It sounded like a good plan then somehow petrol prices went up. My friends got this thing they call ‘work’ that can’t be put off. Which is why it has never leave the idea bench.
Maybe one day.
