The disappointing Sunburst 09 artist lineup

sunburst

Finally the moment we all been waiting for, Pineapple Concerts had announced it’s Sunburst 09 artist lineup. All hell broke loose as fans got to know about the somewhat disappointing lineup.

At first glance, it looked like more of a Rock The World lineup then Sunburst. Unlike Rock The World, where we could aspect great local acts, Sunburst was suppose to be the event that brings some of the biggest, international acts, playing side by side with regional superstars and home grown local talent from Malaysia.

However, the announced lineup does not holds up to people’s expectation as people are expecting to be more then the last Sunburst. With only N.E.R.D as the only international artist headlining the event, people are starting to resell their early bird tickets.

There are some conflicting lineup post from Junk’s online blog and KLue’s blog. Nidji, Agrikulture, Andra And The Backbone and Sixx were mentioned on both blog post as confirmed regional acts, however Junk put in Maliq and D’Essentials on the list too. On local acts lineup, both of the post confirmed Butterfingers (minus Loque), Joe Flizzow, Gerhana Ska Cinta, Estranged, Meet Uncle Hussain, Bunkface, Estrella, Pesawat, Otherside Orchestra and They Will Kill Us All, while KLue mentioned Hujan, Dead Mushroom and Malique.

Here is me being optimistic, I don’t think that all mentioned line up could fill up 6 stage in 12 hours slot, it is still more then a month to Sunburst 09 and anything could happen. They are sill no promotions on radio or TV yet. I hope Pineapple Concerts will surprise us.

Watch this blog post for updates.

Updates: Pineapple Conserts had announced a couple of new acts for Sunbutrst 09. KoRn, Erykah Badu, Skye and Naturally 7 were among the new additions to the international acts lineup.

I can’t actually believe that one day I would see KoRn in Malaysia. I was a fan during my school years. It’s bloody KoRn man!

Then spread the word!

Sunburst sucks and have always sucked. Malaysia can never get any good bands to play because of its fucking rules. In Malaysia, ppl are selling their early bird tickets where as at the reading festival in the UK, 70,000 tickets are sold out within minutes. That’s the difference. The sound systems here are crap and the lightings are of shit quality. Thw worst part of it is the media. For eg, Star publicised Mamma Mia to be the greatest thing to ever happen in Malaysia but their performance here was fucking shit compared to the UK broadway.

Hey Bryan, it’s only the second year for Sunburst, you made it sound as if it has been around for ages.

Anyway, lucky for you to be living in UK and that you could go to Reading Festival, which has been around since the 70′s and had no problem featuring great U.K. acts cause,… errr they are local acts?..

yeah great.. a pseudo hip hop”band” lining up a show. im sorry but i dont want to pay 200 bucks to see some DJ spin some shit and spew garbage lyrics

luckily i didn’t plonk for the earlybird tix. i sense somethingw rong when they failed to list the artist list for so long. smelled a rat

pity the people who bought early tix thinking the prodge, foo and radiohead will be there

hell. if tomorow they confirm Radiohead coming i sell my ass to get the tix! but looking at the setlist now it looks more like ” Rock the Indons V1.0″

booo

most good international bands do not come here cause we cant afford to pay them. if the tickets were RM300 (going by the standard international festival rates) ppl would complain and say its too expensive.
