This is yet another YouTube star story in the making. You might remember this little girl with a beautiful voice, playing a ukulele, singing on YouTube. Those days she’s known as KokoKaina, these days however, she’s Zee Avi singer-songwriter extraordinaire.
This Malaysian chick started singing and putting her videos on YouTube. Back then you can’t see her face as the camera frame are always on her mouth and her ukulele. Not anymore.
Last time we heard from her is that she’s of to Los Angles to record her debut album under Brushfire Records. Now her album is ready out in U.S. and will be out in Malaysia on May 27th. It’s a long way from singing in front of a webcam in your room to touring in U.S.
She looks young yet when she sings it’s as if she has an old soul. I can see the influences taken a little bit of Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple and even Ella Fitzgerald, but she’s all original.
She’s definitely some one to look out for. She should be on everyone’s radar. Check out her music video premier, Bitter Heart: -
