When I first listened to a Bunkface song, I thought this must be one of those new American teen skater band kids these days listen to. Surprised to learn that they are Malaysian.
Who would have thought that from a casual jamming session of four high-school kids could end up into the formation of Bunkface and later on goes to win a afew Battle of the Bands competitions. They started back in 2005, but it’s on late 2007 that they released their first EP, ‘Lesson of the Season’, featuring 6 English tracks.
As to date, Bunkface have been featured and interviewed in numerous magazines and radio stations. Once a band called by organizers just to fill in the slots, now Bunkface is a crowd puller, called by organizer to attract crowds.
Bunkface categorize themselves as a punk-rock band. Their sound are similar to bands like Sum 41, which I think is their close influences. Unless of cause if the fact that their band’s name ‘Bunkface’ and Sum 41′s song, ‘Crazy Amanda Bunkface’ released in 2001, in their album All Killer No Filler, is just a coincidence.
Check out this Silly Lily music video, one of their early works from the first EP, ‘Lesson Of The Season’.
