The year 2009 is ending. We here at Jiboneus decided to spend the last days of 2009 remembering those who had left us. 2009 took from us some of the talented, passionate people in their respective area. Some of them clearly had gone too soon.

Malaysian was bombarded with the news of Teoh Beng Hock’s death, a journalist and a political aide to a state assemblyman. His death under the custody of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, causes quite a stir in our political arena with some parties accusing MACC of misconduct and demanding justice for his death. His death is still under investigation.

However, what shocked Malaysian most, was the death of the beloved film director, Yasmin Ahmad. The critically-acclaimed multi-award winning film director, writer and scriptwriter suffered a stroke and was remain motionless. During that time hopes and prayers from Malaysian were felt everywhere, Facebook, Twitter and the blogosphere.

48 hours later, Yasmin Ahmad succumbed to her injury and was announced that she was no longer with us. Malaysia mourn her death and celebrated her works.

On this year, we also lost a veteran comedian and actor, P.Paramasivam or also known as Param to a heart attack. He was a small guy with a big heart. Other notable death this year, Datuk Ibrahm Hussein, a resident artist at University Malaya who founded the Ibrahim Hussein Museum and Cultural Foundation in Langkawi.

On the international front, we were shock of the recent news of Brittany Murphy’s death. Just a few days before the news of her death, I was watching Ramen Girl and thought that she was really good in it. You might also remember her in Girl, Interrupted where she acted along Winona Ryder and Angelina Jolie.

Of course the news that shock the whole world was Michael Jackson’s death. He was so close to making his big comeback. Every musicians this generation had somehow been influenced or inspired by this King of Pop. His death comes as a surprise to all of us.

Twitter, Facebook and the blogosphere went crazy for months as people of all generation talked about how they get to know Michael Jackson. Radio stations everywhere played his tracks whenever possible.

Apart from Michael Jackson, we also had lost other great icons. David Carradine, who is best known for his role as Kwi Chang Caine, in the TV series Kung Fu, and it’s 1990s sequel, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues also passed away this year.

Farrah Fawcett one of the original Charlie’s Angels and dirty dancer Patrick Swayze also had left us this year. They are icons, personalities that most of us had come to know when we were growing up.

This is the last post for 2009 from Jiboneus.com and we decided to honor those that are no longer with us, the talented, passionate people who had inspired us and others.

We know we wont be able to cover everyone, if you have anybody notable please do leave a comment.

Thank you for reading.
