Everybody is aware of what’s going on in Malaysia at the moment. At the time of this writing, four churches were attacked following the issue of the word Allah being use to represent God in Malay language Christian publication.

The picture above best describe what most Malaysian are facing at the moment. Most Malaysian, the Muslim and Christian community in general, are forced to take sides. This whole debate had escalate to something ugly.
Following the protest right after the Friday prayer, reports starts coming in about churches being burnt down. Note that the majority of Malaysian Muslim community has publicly condemn this acts. This acts are done by criminals, regardless of what religion they may be.
We here at Jiboneus are sadden of the fact that something like this happened in our county. However we are not taking sides on the Allah debate and pointing fingers. That is not what this piece is about.
We choose to look at the good in people. In the wake of the arson attacks on churches, a group which mostly are Malaysian youth chooses to gather in front of Maybank Jalan Bukit Bintang bringing flowers to give away to people passing by.

The event started on Facebook by Chi Too quickly gain some traction. Random strangers from various backgrounds came with flowers to give away to random strangers with the message, “Everything is going to be alright.” It put a smile on what seem to be a gloomy Malaysia.

I didn’t make it to this event, had already plan to go to Pekan Frinjan 7.0 over at Dataran Shah Alam. However, the sentiment I felt over at Pekan Frinjan is the same. Condemning what had happen but yet at the same time trying to put smiles on people faces. Report on Pekan Frinjan 7.0 coming soon.
