My thoughts on Apple Let’s Rock event
Written by J Shamsul, Wednesday, September 17, 2008 |

Yet another Apple special event day went down lastweek. The supreme overlord, our beloved cult leader, Steve Jobs comes down from the mystical mountain of supreme divine innovation and gives us mortals his legendary keynote speech.
As usual I was not invited. However that doesn’t stop me from following the event live. Tracking tweets from Twitter, lurking in IRC back channels and refreshing Engadget as fast as I could click the refresh button.
Right after the event is over, I wrote a short report of what when down on MyMacBUZZ, the Malaysia based Apple blog I co-blog once in a while.
Here are two things I had noticed on the keynote.

I am still pretty much annoyed with the fact that iTunes podcast directory are not available for me. I’ve blogged about this over at MyMacBUZZ. I send a message to Apple iTunes support. Interested to see what’s their reply.

More power to the Rakyat

I’m not into any of these movement by the so called ‘rakyat’. I normally don’t sign on any partition created by these so called ‘rakyat’.
I stayed away from any blogger movement that has strong political scent. You won’t see me putting up the silly “Bloggers Unite. No Fear” logo on my blog. Also I don’t give a damn about those group of silly bloggers who photoshop themselves to some silly movie poster thinking they are some kind of hero. (take a look at Kickdefella blog’s sidebar, it’s hilarious)
However this is one movement I can not ignore. One partition I’ve to sign. One logo I’ve to put up. This time I say more power to the rakyat. It’s not about Anwar nor is it about fuel price. It is something bigger and much more important. I urge all the rakyat to sign up.

Media Temple introduced OSX Leopard Server on VPS

I do most of my work on Apple Mac OS X Leopard. Most of the time I’ll end up deploying it on some kind of Linux/Unix based server. I’ve always drooled looking at OS X Leopard Server and wonder how it would be like working on it.
To have a OS X Leopard Server running on a shiny Xserve is beyond my budget or any small businesses. Not to mention the cost of co-lo service on data centers.
Not anymore, Media Temple had announced the start of private-beta period for its latest line of hosting solution, the (xv) Xserve-Virtual. They are calling this “the world’s first VPS Leopard Server”.

It is that time of the year, again. Apple’s World Wide Developer Conference, one of the few events where Steve Jobs with his rock star status presents, or should I say, perform his famous keynote.
Developer from all around the world gathered on this conference. This is when Apple showcase new upcoming technologies for its product.
Wishing for iPod Hi-Fi 2.0

Early 2006, Apple had announced a couple of iPod accessories products. One of it is the infamous iPod Hi-Fi. It is a speaker system developed, manufactured and sold by Apple Inc. It acts as a Hi-Fi quality sounding speaker for your iPod, and it did just that.
The product didn’t gain any traction, and was discontinued by the end of 2007. I would actually love to see a revamp version of iPod Hi-Fi. The new iPod Hi-Fi 2.0 would have some new features. Not talking about build-in FM tuner, alarm clock or anything mediocre like that. Here are two of my suggestions to the Apple engineering team for the next version of iPod Hi-Fi.
