You are stuck in an airport with strangers. Newark Liberty International Airport to be exact. Apparently there has just been a security breach. The whole of Terminal C was evacuated and a total lockdown. Not knowing what had happened your thoughts are running wild. This was after all, one of the airport where the 9/11 terrorist hijacked a plane but was crash landed into an empty field. Read more...

The time was around 6p.m. I was alone at the office when I felt it. My first thought was that I’ve been working too hard, and that I need to get some food. It gets worst when I got up. It felt as if the office building was shaking. The same sensation you feel in a moving LRT train, but a little bit less. My first instinct was to check Twitter to confirm what I had in mind. First few Tweets has the word “earthquake” on it. I was right. Read more...
President Obama brings the web to the White House

President Obama’s staff is known for their tech-savvyness. Accustomed to Macs, social media and always having the latest gadgets. They were all used to cutting-edge technology.
We could see throughout the 2008 campaign Obama and his staff are well connected on the web. From YouTube channel to Facebook to Obama’s tweet on twitter (I actually followed him on twitter). They had grown way pass then just blogging.
It is clear that Obama’s team wants to bring this culture to the White House. It fits well in Obama’s call for more transparency in the government. However this comes as a huge challenge for the new Obama presidential administration team, especially the IT team. They found themselves dealing with Windows PC with Microsoft Office 2003 and other six to seven year old software.

First Katrina and now Gustav

My prayers goes to people of New Orleans as they faces yet another great storm in which the outcome might be yet another massive flooding.
The tropical storm Gustav, which now had become Hurricane Gustav is said to be “the mother of all stroms” and it’s heading straight to them.
Reports are coming in of New Orleans evacuation. I can imagine that 2005′s Katrina memories are still fresh in the minds of the people of New Orleans as they evacuate their homes.
This also gives the U.S. government and New Orleans mayor a second chance to do something right. A second chance is the rarest commodities in a political arena and it looks like they are capitalizing it.

You might have heard news about the conflict started in South Ossetia. Local news channels, sandwiched it in between news of Permatang Pauh elections and the Beijing Olympics.
There are not much coverage by major news agencies else where either.
Other news agencies who covered the event, are painting a picture of Russian’s aggression into Georgia. On the Internet, it’s a whole other story.

On 8th August 2008 most of the world eyes were fixed on Beijing and the summer Olympic games grand opening. News agencies and media all around the world were busy reporting on this event. They had paid big money to cover this event.
Oblivious to most of the world was an ongoing conflict that had risen to almost becoming a full out war. No, it is not U.S. No, it is not the middle east.
South Ossetia, a providence between Russia and the Republic of Georgia saw devastating damages and civilian casualties as military forces from both the Russian Federation and the Republic of Georgia duke it out.
As with every war there are always both side of the story.

Last week, Iran did some missile testing. A photo of the missile firing was made public. The western media pick it up and run with it. The mainstream media uses the above photo in running the news.
However the photoshop savvy Internet people people found something wrong with the picture. Apparently someone had been busy playing with the clone tool. The photo below shows the highlighted area that were clone. Apparently it’s one missile to many.

Here is the original photo. It shows one unsuccessful missile launch.

Of cause the Internet people being such a geek had photoshoped more missile launch photos. Here are some that I’ve found.

I understand that innocent people die due to natural disaster. I understand that natural disaster happens due to the effect and consequences to the environment.
I understand that innocent people die as collateral damage in conflict zones and war. I understand that this happened when politics and diplomatics ways doesn’t work. I understand that a soldier under orders have to deploy bombs and other weapons to eliminate the threat of the other site, sometimes innocent bystanders are in its path.
I understand that innocent people die when being rob. I understand that some people due to the circumstances feels that they are less fortunate then others. In order for them to survive, they would do anything including hurting other people.
