Yet another Apple special event day went down lastweek. The supreme overlord, our beloved cult leader, Steve Jobs comes down from the mystical mountain of supreme divine innovation and gives us mortals his legendary keynote speech.
As usual I was not invited. However that doesn’t stop me from following the event live. Tracking tweets from Twitter, lurking in IRC back channels and refreshing Engadget as fast as I could click the refresh button.
Right after the event is over, I wrote a short report of what when down on MyMacBUZZ, the Malaysia based Apple blog I co-blog once in a while.
Here are two things I had noticed on the keynote.

I am sitting infront of my PowerBook. I have my blog up in the web browser on my screen. I can type up a new blog entry using the laptop infront of me. Read more...

Last weekend was an iPhone and iPod Touch weekend. People all around the world lined up to buy their new iPhone 3G. By ‘all around the world’ I meant, ‘the countries that Apple is selling its iPhone 3G’. Malaysia not included. Read more...

Early 2006, Apple had announced a couple of iPod accessories products. One of it is the infamous iPod Hi-Fi. It is a speaker system developed, manufactured and sold by Apple Inc. It acts as a Hi-Fi quality sounding speaker for your iPod, and it did just that.
The product didn’t gain any traction, and was discontinued by the end of 2007. I would actually love to see a revamp version of iPod Hi-Fi. The new iPod Hi-Fi 2.0 would have some new features. Not talking about build-in FM tuner, alarm clock or anything mediocre like that. Here are two of my suggestions to the Apple engineering team for the next version of iPod Hi-Fi.

“Is that the iPhone?”
“No. It’s just an iPod Touch”
When I meet new people, I store their contacts on the address book on my iPod Touch. People mistakenly thought it is an iPhone.
“Is that a PDA?”
“No it’s just an iPod Touch”
I note down appointments on my iPod Touch using the calendar app. It syncs with iCal when connect it with my Mac. I take notes and create to-do list using the Notes app on my iPod Touch I then mail it back to myself if I want a copy on my Mac. People mistakenly thought it is a PDA device.
“Is that an Internet tablet?”
“No it’s just an iPod Touch”
Whenever there is a wifi signal I can get on, I check my email, surf the web, watch YouTube video and sometime use Google Map to figure out where the hell I am at or where I’m going. People mistakenly thought it is an Internet tablet of some sorts.

Apple is pushing the web browser envelope with their Safari web browser, using the WebKit open source application project since last fall. Safari had grown a lot since it was first introduce as the OSX browser. There is a version of Safari for Windows. It (WebKit), also runs on mobile devices, the iPhone and the iPod Touch.
And the iPhone and iPod Touch SDK might just be based only on Safari, here is why.

I’ve been touched. I got myself an iPod Touch while I was at Singapore recently. There should be a t-shirt with the phrase “I went to Singapore and all I got was an iPod Touch” on it. Apple’s iPod’s are a little bit cheaper in Singapore then it is in Malaysia. Read more...
